Cool Amps was one of twelve companies down-selected from over 800 applicants for the U.S. Army’s xTechSearch 8 Prize Competition.
xTechSearch is the U.S. Army’s only open-topic prize competition. Focused on harnessing new and disruptive technologies, xTechSearch 8 integrates small businesses into the Army’s science and technology ecosystem. As they progress through the competition, participants will have access to training and advising to determine how best to align their technology solutions with real users and buyers within the Army. The competition will provide up to $800,000 in cash prizes.

Cool Amps is excited to announce that it was selected to continue in the Clean-tech Hardware Innovation Prototyping (CHIP) Program.
The CHIP program has provided Cool Amps with nearly $50,000 for instrumentation and staff time at the Washington Clean Energy Testbeds. Cool Amps will use this funding to continue demonstrating its recycling process produces battery-grade cathode and anode-active materials.
The CHIP program was established by the Northwest Cleantech Innovation Network, a partnership of the Testbeds, the CleanTech Alliance, and VertueLab funded by the U.S. Department of Energy’s Energy Program for Innovation Clusters (EPIC).

Cool Amps closes pre-seed funding round with SOSV/HAX. SOSV/HAX, is a hard tech venture firm and incubator, that works with startups to help solve and scale technical challenges in the physical science field.
Cool Amps will work with the northern New Jersey-based HAX team to scale its novel process to electrochemically extract critical metals from end-of-life lithium-ion batteries.

Cool Amps has partnered with the Connecticut State Colleges and Universities (CSCU) Center for Nanotechnology. Through the Werth Industry Academic Fellowship (IAF) partnership, Cool Amps will work with Southern Connecticut State University (SCSU) faculty and students on sustainability challenges for lithium battery recycling.
SCSU is part of a coalition of colleges and universities across the United States that have formally committed to climate leadership, net-carbon neutrality by 2050, and actively engaging campus and surrounding communities in climate resilience and adaptation.

The University of Connecticut, R/GA Ventures, and CTNext are kicking off their first cohort of the Future Climate Venture Studio this week, with six selected companies creating solutions across a range of critical areas of climate and sustainability including energy, agriculture, manufacturing, and financial services solutions.
